I live in a village called Swanland in East Yorkshire, England. This is only a few miles away from Willeby where I grew up.
Happily married to Helen, who works as a teacher, since 1995. We were married on the beautiful island of St Lucia.
We have never had children but Helen keeps rabbits that get lots of love. They tend to be named according to their character and include Dipperty, Stupid, Pshyco, Nibbles and Dumbo.
I am a software developer working in the Finance department for Aviva in York. This is mainly using VB.NET, SQL Server and DCS.
When I first started my career in computing, this was COBOL, DB2, JCL and VSAM, which seems so far away from what I do now.
Other well known companies include ASDA, COMET, Northern Rock, and Bradford and Bingley.
I have more interests than time so tend to swap between projects.
My most popular interests are art (computer and traditional). There are various materials filed away in drawers that are yet to be used. Hopefully when I get to retirement this will give me more time to create a masterpiece.
Photography is another artistic pastime, although this tends to be mostly holiday photos. Other areas of photography I want to learn are macro and landscapes
Music is probably a lost cause as I have tried to learn guitar and piano without much success. There's lots of music creation software now so perhaps I can create something a bit more tuneful. Failing all that, I can just listen to anything from the 1780's to the 1980's.
Reading tends to be fantasy novels with Robin Hobb, George RR Martin and Robert Jordan.
